Bethel Mar Thoma Church is an parish of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church. The church may be described as Apostolic in origin, Universal in nature, Biblical in faith, Evangelical in principle, Ecumenical in outlook, Oriental in worship, Democratic in function, and Episcopal in character.
The denomination traces its heritage to Jesus’ disciple Thomas who came to India in 52 AD and shared the Gospel with the people. It is a reformed orthodox church and is thus neither Roman Catholic nor Protestant. The worship style is liturgical, based on the St. James liturgy as used in the early church.
