First Baptist Church of Virginia is an old church that loves the Lord Jesus Christ. We have only recently been introduced to the work of the Holy Spirit and consider ourselves a Spirit-led church. Our worship is contemporary praise and worship style music and our preaching is bible based and Christ centered.

Dr Gary S Hooper spent the first 40yrs of his life in rural Australia. He is a cattleman at heart who had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ in May 1985. He is married to Wendy and together they have 7 children and 4 grandchildren. in October 2001 Gary was asked to come to the USA to help after 9-11. He and Wendy arrived in February 2002. They have been involved in planting churches, disaster relief, working with feeding ministries in Texas and other places as well as pastoring churches. Gary has preached in many churches across 27states. The Hoopers’ spent many years in Texas before being called to Illinois.
